AWARDS
For 26 years, Brian D. Perskin served as a powerful advocate for his clients, guiding both men and women through difficult divorces and complex family issues. His tough, sharp approach to litigation coupled with his dedication to his clients has enabled him to best achieve his clients’ goals and safeguard their interests, whether he is dealing with complex matrimonial issues, custody cases, or other family law matters. Attorney Perskin’s deep commitment to his clients enables him to serve them in a more powerful way, fighting to protect their interests as if each of their cases were about his own family.
It is this devotion and passion that has led to him achieving one of the highest ratings on Avvo, an unbiased rating system based on an attorney’s background and reputation. While these ratings are based on information from public sources, state bar associations, court records, regulatory agencies, and published sources, this high rating reflects the sincere personal commitment Attorney Perskin makes to each of his clients. It depicts the tireless effort and rigorous work he constantly devotes to protecting the interests of his clients and their families.
Attorney Perskin does not only dedicate his time to his own clients, but to advancing legal knowledge more generally, too. He frequently speaks on topics related to family law, such as on the use of depositions in marriage proceedings, custody elevations, and judges’ opinions on equitable distribution. He has also written on subjects related to divorce strategy, fathers’ rights, custody rights of non-parents, pension fund assets and attorneys’ fees. Most recently, he published Winning Divorce Strategies, in which he outlines effective methods for achieving one’s goals in a divorce. He also authored How to Win Custody, a focused guide for parents involved in custody disputes. Attorney Perskin’s hope is to make divorce and family law issues easier for those undergoing them, and to devote his legal career to serving individuals in need of legal guidance through such challenging times.
In addition, Attorney Perskin is married and has three children. While in college at Brandeis University, he also studied at the London School of Economics. He is a major hockey fan, including being a lifelong New York Islanders fan, and welcomes the team to Brooklyn.

Words can't describe how happy I am that I used Mr. Perskin. I was in a pretty gnarly situation (to say the least) and from the moment we met, he showed immense confidence, listened to me, and fought super SUPER hard for me. It was a relief and gave me so much satisfaction to see how much he got my back (which i didn't have previously). His communication was A+ and in the end I was able to avoid a trial because of him. He kept me honest, managed my expectations, and also i really loved working with his son Jared, that dude is GOING PLACES! I will recommend Brian to everyone and also has an awesome book! thank you thank you!!read moreread less -

I retained Brian D. Perskin & Associates to represent me in my contested divorce. Right off the bat, I could tell that Brian and his Associate Attorney, Sara Jane Bullard, were the right fit for me. They were experienced, knowledgeable and attentive to every question I had, and every challenge we faced along the way. You can tell that Brian’s been doing this for decades and knows the overall divorce process like the back of his hand, as well as the ins and outs of the complicated court system. I was impressed with the way Brian was able to advocate for me. He wasn’t scared to speak up and really fight for me, while at the same time making sure not to overdo it; as not to anger the judge or the opposition. Sara Jane aka Janie, is a rising star. She is so easy to communicate with and is extremely detail oriented. I never had to worry that something I asked her would go unanswered or something she said she would do wouldn’t get done. As my ex would consistently complain about how her attorney, Deana Balahtsis, would forget to provide pertinent information to her, and hardly respond to her emails, I felt so lucky I didn’t have to deal with that at all. One of my biggest fears when hiring an attorney was the cost. I was worried that I was going to get hit with ridiculous fees. With Brian D. Perskin & Associates, this was not the case at all. I was kept in the loop and made aware of how much things would cost along the way. There weren’t any frivolous fees and unlike my ex, I was never held hostage, with work grinding to a stop unless I made a payment the minute I was sent an invoice. Brian and Janie are terrific attorneys. You can tell they love what they do and truly want to help. I would 100% recommend both of them to anyone looking for a competent and experienced divorce attorney.read moreread less -

Brian was a patient and steady advisor. More than anything, I appreciated that while he always helped me understand my rights, our conversations took into account the best interests of my family in the long term. He won't give you false expectations and he will not coddle you. But he is effective. He's straight forward, good on his feet in the courtroom and measured. I find myself coming back to him for advice even after my divorce was finalized.read moreread less -

If you are reading this, you are likely going through a tough time. I remember when I started reading through Yelp reviews for divorce attorneys....It's a rocky road that you will get through. If you are going through this difficult process, I cannot recommend Brian and his team more highly. My case was worked on mostly by Brian and Jennifer. In thinking back I remember all of the fears of starting the process of becoming a client in a divorce case. I was worried about the typical and obvious concerns- that the attorney could drag the process and fees unnecessarily. I was worried that the attorney would be too bulldog like and make the process seem like a war. I was worried that because I was not a wealthy client, that I would not be listened to, nor my case given a high priority or attention....and many other concerns. But this firm handled my case in the way that I could only describe as what I was hoping for going in... I could give all the details and examples that would make this review become pages long, and personal, which I do not wish to do. I will just say that in every way that a divorce firm and it's attorneys can make the difficult process happen in a respectful, professional way, they did.read moreread less

As anyone who has gone through a divorce can tell you it’s a very difficult process filled with worry and anxiety related to child custody, finances and broken relationships. It’s vitally important to have the best legal representation possible and I’m grateful that Evan Sekular was there to protect my interests and negotiate a fair agreement. My primary concern was 50/50 custody of my two boys and Evan never wavered or considered accepting anything less. Evan took the time to explain every issue and I was able to understand my legal position throughout the whole process. Due to his vast experience Evan was able to remain resolute during negotiations and often pointed out when certain demands were just “posturing” by my wife’s attorney and that there was no need for concern. As I said divorce is difficult and Evan not only provided fantastic legal advice but his personable and affable demeanor were so welcome and reassuring each time we met at court or in the office.I can not recommend Evan Sekular more highly and I am grateful for his service and his friendship.Sincerely,Don Kennaread moreread less -

I worked with Evan Seckular, a partner at this firm, and found him to be professional even under the most challenging of circumstances thrown at us. Mine was a challenging divorce, and I was always provided solid and timely advice and opinion...even if it wasn't what I wanted to hear. Not everything in the law makes sense or is fair, but Evan always patiently walked me through my options and offered his advice on next steps along with likely outcomes. If you find yourself in need of a divorce attorney, I can't recommend this firm, and Evan, enough.read moreread less

I had the pleasure of working with Jared Perskin from Brian D. Perskin & Associates for a child support case, and I couldn’t be more satisfied with the outcome and the experience. Jared was responsive, professional, knowledgeable, and—most importantly—genuinely caring throughout the entire process. He successfully lowered my child support amount and was able to eliminate unnecessary expenses that had been unfairly imposed. From the beginning, Jared stood out because of his empathetic approach—he truly takes the time to understand his client's situation and provides both legal guidance and emotional support during what can be a very stressful time. Jared’s communication skills and deep understanding of family law were evident in every interaction. He was thorough in his preparation, confident in court, and never wavered when it came to defending my rights. His calm demeanor and positive personality helped put me at ease, even in the most challenging moments. I would highly recommend Jared Perskin to anyone seeking legal support in a family law matter. He’s not just a great lawyer—he’s an advocate you can trust. I wish him continued success and a very bright future ahead.read moreread less -
