It may have taken months to happen, but finally the rumors are true:
Bethenny Frankel has filed for divorce from her husband Jason Hoppy. She made it official with the court in early January, a month after the couple announced they were separating. Now Bethenny is making demands about how she wants the to turn out.
They have a two-year-old daughter together named Bryn, and Bethenny has asked for primary physical custody of her. She also wants child support to go along with that, back dated to the day she filed for divorce. In addition, she is asking for a variety of benefits for both herself and her daughter. For example, she has requested that her husband pay for not just medical, dental, and vision coverage, but also any therapy or orthodontic treatment she or her daughter may need. This is of course in addition to a life insurance policy that would name both Bethenny and her daughter as beneficiaries.
Bethenny has requested that Jason leave the marital home, and she wants the prenuptial agreement the two signed to be enforced. The contents of that document are not yet known, so it is not clear who is entitled to which assets. So far, Jason has said he will challenge at least one of Bethenny’s moves since he claims he will file for joint custody of their daughter. He has also claimed that although he does not think Bethenny cheated on him during the marriage, he does believe she is having an emotional affair with a colleague who works for Skinnygirl.
The marriage lasted almost three years. Bethenny is the entrepreneur behind the Skinnygirl line of drinks, and she was on The Real Housewives of New York show. She was considered the breadwinner of the couple since she has been reported to be worth anywhere from about $20 million to $55 million. But her husband Jason is well-known as a real estate agent in New York, and is worth \$5 million on his own.
When it comes to many celebrity divorces, the rumors often come true eventually. This couple denied the impending divorce for months, but finally couldn’t continue in the marriage. It is unknown what exactly caused the split, but Bethenny has said it is what is best for their family. Like most celebrity divorces, more details will likely emerge in the coming months until it is final.
